    Cytokine

    Cytokines synthesized and secreted by immune cells and certain non immune cells through stimulation are a class of small molecule proteins with a wide range of biological activities. They cannot penetrate the lipid bilayer of cells. On the contrary, they interact with specific cytokine receptors on the surface of target cells to exert their functions.

    Cytokines generally regulate cell growth, differentiation, and efficacy by binding to corresponding receptors, and regulate immune responses. Cytokines (CK) are low molecular weight soluble proteins induced by immunogens, mitogens, or other stimuli to be produced by various cells. They have multiple functions such as regulating innate and adaptive immunity, blood cell generation, cell growth, APSC multipotent cells, and repairing damaged tissues.

    Most cytokines have small molecular weights, multiple disulfide bonds, are prone to aggregation, and are toxic to the host. Traditional E. coli and yeast expression are very difficult.
