    Perotin visited the Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, to share cutting-edge applications of cell-free protein expression.

    On the morning of May 20, the technical team of Suzhou Perotin Biotechnology Co., Ltd. paid an invited visit to the Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, where they delivered a special report on “Cell-Free Protein Expression Technology and Recent Advances in Its Applications.” Key researchers and graduate student representatives from the institute attended the event, and the ensuing discussions were both substantive and in-depth.

    The lecture directly addresses the core pain points in contemporary life-science experiments. In response to longstanding challenges faced by researchers—such as difficult protein expression, lengthy timelines, and high failure rates—the Perotin team demonstrated how a cell-free protein-expression system, by leveraging an “in vitro open environment,” overcomes the metabolic constraints of living cells, enabling a shift from “reactive trial-and-error” to “proactive control.”

    AI + Biomanufacturing Accelerator: For the vast array of mutants generated by AI‑driven design, CFPS technology reduces the screening cycle from several weeks to completing hundreds of samples within 24 hours, overcoming the bottleneck of traditional wet‑lab experiments and enabling seamless integration between dry‑ and wet‑lab workflows.

    Membrane protein “decoder”: The study reported a successful demonstration of in vitro reconstitution, achieving the correct assembly of multi-subunit membrane protein complexes—such as octameric proteins—thereby overcoming the longstanding challenges of low expression and poor folding associated with membrane proteins (e.g., GPCRs, ion channels) and opening new avenues for drug discovery.

    High-Throughput “Dark Factory”: We have launched an integrated, desktop‑scale “PCR–Expression–Purification” workflow that standardizes complex biomanufacturing processes, akin to an industrial “dark factory,” thereby significantly lowering the human and technical barriers to high‑throughput screening.

    In addition, the unique advantages of non‑natural amino acid incorporation technology in site‑specific protein engineering and ADC drug development were highlighted.

    During the interactive session, participants engaged in an in-depth discussion on technical details and application scenarios. Attendees agreed that CFPS, as a key enabling technology in synthetic biology, will significantly enhance the efficiency and success rate of scientific research experiments. This exchange not only showcased Perotin’s cutting-edge technological capabilities but also laid a solid foundation for collaborative innovation between the two parties on future research projects.
